A fairytale of science rendered real
A monument to engineering pow’r
The railway structure’s lattice works of steel
By several-fold out-mass the Eiffel Tow’r!
The megaproject would not be finessed
For Tay Bridge catastrophically had failed
So granite, minds, and metal manifest
A brute force methodology prevailed!
Its outstretched arms prehend the parted banks
Its lofty shoulders lift from bay to sky
Bid cantilever triad now our thanks
This fairytale of science bids us ‘bye!
Our railway car embarks now to the North
We’ve crossed the bridge that spans the Firth of Forth!
